Job Description

The Project Manager oversee all aspects of projects, sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities/tasks and monitors and summarizes progress of projects. You work to ensure that a given job meets its deliverables on schedule and on budget. Your primary job duties are to supervise staff involved with the project, coordinate with various streams of work, and liaise directly with clients.

Key Responsibilities

The following are key tasks that the successful candidate will be responsible for;

 

      • Working with clients to detail specific project deliverables
      • Creating a timeline of goals to be met
      • Developing project plans for clients and staff
      • Delegating project tasks to teams best suited to complete them
      • Tracking project performance and analyzing deliverables against requirements
      • Ensuring that all budgetary objectives are met, making adjustments as needed
      • Overseeing staff and teams to ensure that work continues on budget and schedule

Other responsibilities

The following are other tasks or responsibilities the successful candidate will be involved with;

 

      • Participate in planning activities to identify and document emerging needs and requirements.
      • Consolidate business needs and requirements and segment these into programs, projects and initiatives as appropriate.
      • Work with the executive team to estimate, prioritize, plan and schedule initiatives.
      • Create project charters for approvals by the executive team.
      • Resource and initiate projects according to the approved schedule.
      • Create and maintain forecasts throughout the year that reflect approved plans and projects.
      • Provide leadership through advice and organizational assets to project teams in their execution of projects.
      • Manage multiple concurrent projects.
      • Work with project sponsors and stakeholders to ensure effective and appropriate communications exist throughout the project.
      • Develop, document, and maintain an organizational project structure and approach with clearly defined roles and responsibilities for all stakeholders.
      • Develop, document and maintain a set of organizational project management assets.
      • Apply the most appropriate methods and approaches for the project execution phase.
      • Interact and communicate planning and project information with all levels of the organization through meetings, reports and presentations.

Desired Skills

These skills will help the successful candidate accomplish some or all of the other responsibilities identified above. Candidates that have some or all of these skills will be preferred.

 

      • Bachelor level degree (Business, Computer Science, or related discipline) or combination of education/certification/work experience.
      • Formal project management training required.
      • Knowledge of Waterfall implementation methodologies and Agile will be beneficial
      • Five years of demonstrated project management experience in leading all aspects of a project through its entire lifecycle.
      • At least 5 years of general business/management experience, which may or may not include project management experience.
      • Experience in managing third party contracts and teams for the purposes of project delivery.
      • Broad knowledge of current project management methods and practices.
        Strong commitment to quality control and workmanship practices and ability to deliver excellence through team members.
      • Demonstrated customer service mindset in a fast paced and dynamic work environment.
      • Excellent knowledge and considerable experience using MS Office applications
      • Knowledge of organizational change management methods and practices.
      • The ability to not only manage a project but assist the organization through change.
