When AI Becomes Infrastructure:
Introducing Safion AI Assistants for iMIS

In 2026 we’re starting to see AI move beyond the experimentation phase and into daily operations, embedding itself directly into how organizations work. What began as pilots in 2025 are now quickly becoming essential for staying efficient, responsive, and competitive.

For membership organizations, the challenge has never been getting access to AI, but instead being able to adopt AI safely, responsibly, and in a way that aligns with existing policies and workflows. As AI starts to support core procedures, leaders face growing expectations around responsible governance, data protection, and accountability.

Safion’s approach has always been to focus on governance first, ensuring AI operates within an organizational context, putting the protection of your members’ data and trust first. By embedding secure, role-based AI assistants directly into iMIS RiSE sites, Safion is able to turn trusted content into practical support, improving staff workflows where work actually happens.

With Safion, organizations can train assistants on their own policies, SOPs, and knowledge articles, while restricting sources by page, folder, or tag. Assistants can be deployed on RiSE pages and scoped by role (member, staff, board), tone, and permissions, supporting everyday iMIS workflows without exposing unintended content or creating compliance risk.

We have also included enterprise guardrails like audit logs, content provenance, and Personal Identifiable Information (PII) redaction to ensure AI improves member self-service and staff efficiency without introducing any aforementioned compliance risks.

Safion is here to give leaders a clear path forward in adopting AI in a controlled, trusted way that’s fully aligned with iMIS. If your organization is looking to move beyond chatbots and adopt a governed, mission-aligned AI that supports both members and staff with confidence, contact us for a demo today.

What Persisted Cash Dues Mean for Your iMIS Billing Process

iMIS recently introduced Persisted Cash Membership Invoices, an update that changes how cash dues invoices are handled. With this change, cash dues invoices are no longer meant to be edited after they are created.

Previously, dues invoices could often be adjusted directly. Now, corrections follow a “reverse and rebill” approach where the original invoice is reversed, and a new invoice is generated with the correct amount. While this creates an additional invoice record, it’s long-term goal is creating a more auditable billing history of your organization’s invoices.

We have found this change matters most for organizations that generate renewal invoices first and apply updates to those outstanding dues during the renewal process. In order to support this new model, our team has updated our ReBill iPart functionality, ensuring corrections are handled consistently behind the scenes.

The result? More transparent billing with clearly marked reversals and a single source of truth for corrected invoices. Most importantly, the system can now stay aligned with iMIS’s persisted cash dues model moving forward, reducing the risk of billing issues during renewals and avoiding any messy workarounds.

If your team is running into headaches or you have questions on how persisted cash might be affecting your processes, reach out to our team anytime! We may already have the answers you’re looking for.

Cloud Computing and Remote Collaboration

With accelerated adoption of cloud-based operations, union members and staff will increasingly come to expect the same level of accessibility and flexibility within their unions as they do with companies they interact with in other aspects of their daily lives. Unions that do not meet modernization expectations risk losing member and staff confidence.
